Consider: Mise - en - scene, editing pace, shots and narrative

ABOUT A GIRL - BRIAN PERCIVAL (2001) 
  • Flashbacks - lots of locations 
  • The use of a silhouettes at the beginning is effective as it is unusual and keeps the audience engaged. 
  • Fast editing between shots
  • Hand held camera - walking along with the girl
  • The use of the song 'Stronger' by Britney Spears contrasts with what her life is. She continuously repeats the line 'I'm not that innocent now'. 
  • We later find out that she has had a baby and had an abortion.
BOY AND BICYCLE - RIDLEY SCOTT (1956)
  • Over narrative by the bear.
  • The shot is a point of view shot from the bear and showing round the room that he is in, lots of camera angles - always moving around
DEAR PHONE - PETER GREENEWAY
  • Reading letters as the story, artistic.
DOODLEBUG - CHRISTOPHER NOLAN (1997) 
  • Including character in the title (the two 'oo's in 'Doodle Bug' are eyes of the character.
